At the start of 2025, the municipality of Somme-Leuze decided to optimise the heating management of its town hall using the Snugr solution. The roll-out required some change management work with municipal staff — changing habits doesn’t happen overnight. But the commitment was there, and the results confirm that the effort was well worth it.
The figures after one year:
🔴 Before: 3 full tanks of heating oil per year (~7,500 L)
🟢 After: 2 full tanks are sufficient, with heating oil still available at the end of the year
This one tank saved represents:
📉 -33% reduction in heating oil consumption
👛 ~€2,050 in savings (at the 2025 average price of heating oil >2,000 L)
🌍 ~€3,325 in savings at the current April 2026 price
6.7 tonnes of CO₂ avoided, the equivalent of 267 trees 🌳🌳🌳 planted each year
This case perfectly illustrates what Snugr offers: real, measurable optimisation and savings 📉, without the need for major investment in infrastructure 🔨, and without compromising on occupants’ comfort 🛋️.
A big thank you to everyone who made this result possible:
* Valérie Lecomte, Mayor of Somme-Leuze, for her support and her vision of a more sustainable municipality
* Alexandre Borsus, Councillor for Energy, for his hands-on commitment to this project
* Marc Godefroid, Pollec coordinator, for his key role in monitoring and coordination
* The Municipal Council, which approved the project to enable the municipality to reduce the heating budget and the building’s environmental footprint
* The entire municipal administration, for their involvement and openness to change
It is thanks to teams like this — curious, committed and ready to rethink their habits — that the energy transition 🌿 is becoming a tangible reality on the ground 🙌.
💡 For local authorities, businesses and property managers looking to reduce their carbon footprint and energy bills: results like these are within reach. All it takes is taking the plunge — and supporting the change.
